Sorry, no Blog posting from Singapore directly - we simply didn't have the time while we were there! We did, however, enjoy our short visit and survived the "Dive with the Sharks" at Singapore's Underwater World on Sentosa Island!! It actually turned out to be a real scuba-dive which we didn't expect since we are not certified divers and had never scuba-dived before. Well, no problem at all in Singapore - we got a 5 minute introduction and down we went into the 15-foot tank!! It's one of those with a plexiglass tunnel inside and a moving walkway, so we actually had a bunch of tourists waving at us and taking pictures!
In short, it was pretty cool and now at least we know that we will probably make it past the first day of our diving course in Australia.

We're in Vietnam now, having arrived just a couple of hours ago. First impressions - EVEN HOTTER than Singapore and just about as humid. Life without A/C would be very tough for anyone used to European climates or at least take quite a while to get used to. Second, continous honking while driving is mandatory. While traffic was pretty well coordinated in Singapore, there seems to be a whole range of unwritten traffic rules in Vietnam - and they're not obvious enough that I could have figured them out on our 30-minute taxi ride from the airport. Below a picture of our driver who managed to steer clear of the multitudes of scooters, cars, trucks and other more or less quickly moving objects on Hanoi's roads.
